Matswere Campsite

Basic 4x4 camping · Khwai community concession (NG19) · Khwai Development Trust

A drawing stands in because nobody has sent us a photograph of Matswere Campsite yet. We only publish images we have permission for. Send us five and this page changes the same week.

Budget Outside the gate Locally owned

The third of the Khwai Development Trust's campsites and the one almost nobody lists, alongside Magotho and Sable Alley. Same arrangement as the others: you book direct with the trust in Maun and the money stays with the community that holds the land north of the river. We have the rate from the trust's own page but not the facilities, so treat it as basic 4x4 camping until they tell us otherwise.

Why you'd pick it

  • Run by the community trust that holds the concession
  • Night drives allowed on the concession, unlike inside the reserve

What the park charges on top

The rate above buys you a bed. Moremi Game Reserve charges its own entry fee for every day you are inside, and almost no booking site shows you that.

Park entryP270 for non-residents, roughly $20.
$20per person, per day
VehicleP75 a day for a foreign-registered vehicle, roughly $6.
$6per vehicle, per day

Three nights means three days inside, so two adults sharing one vehicle pay $138 in park fees before anyone pays for a bed.

Rates

P515 per person (±$38). From the trust's own rate list. The most expensive of the three sites the trust runs, against P400 at Magotho and Sable Alley. The trust does not publish what the difference buys, so ask when you book.

What the rate covers is not confirmed. We have not been able to check whether meals, drinks and activities are included here, so treat this figure as the bed alone until it is.

Indicative 2026 rates per person per night sharing, gathered July 2026 from operators' own rate sheets where published. Several operators (Kwando Safaris, Desert & Delta, Kwalate Safaris) publish no public rates at all; where that is the case we say 'on enquiry' rather than print a guess. Always confirm with the lodge, and check whether park fees are included.
