High-end Outside the gate Safari company

The most interesting ownership story in the Delta right now. When Belmond's lease was not renewed, the land was returned to the Khwai community, the old lodge was demolished, and Sediba Sa Rona opened in March 2026, run by Desert & Delta with Savanna Expeditions, a company described as 100 percent Botswana-citizen-owned. Accurate framing: a citizen-owned partner on community land, not a community-owned lodge. Guides still quoting 'Belmond Khwai River Lodge' are three years out of date.

Why you'd pick it

  • Built on the site of Botswana's first photographic safari lodge
  • Citizen-owned operating partner on land reclaimed for the Khwai community
  • The newest lodge on the Khwai River

What the park charges on top

The rate above buys you a bed. Moremi Game Reserve charges its own entry fee for every day you are inside, and almost no booking site shows you that.

Park entryP270 for non-residents, roughly $20.
$20per person, per day
VehicleP75 a day for a foreign-registered vehicle, roughly $6.
$6per vehicle, per day

Three nights means three days inside, so two adults sharing one vehicle pay $138 in park fees before anyone pays for a bed.

Rates

From $690 pppn. Published rates $690 low to $1,290 high season. Opened 16 March 2026 on the site of the former Belmond Khwai River Lodge.

What the rate covers is not confirmed. We have not been able to check whether meals, drinks and activities are included here, so treat this figure as the bed alone until it is.

Indicative 2026 rates per person per night sharing, gathered July 2026 from operators' own rate sheets where published. Several operators (Kwando Safaris, Desert & Delta, Kwalate Safaris) publish no public rates at all; where that is the case we say 'on enquiry' rather than print a guess. Always confirm with the lodge, and check whether park fees are included.
